Lagos — THE Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has mandated the Police Wworks Department to commence the building of 500 units of modern and cost effective houses in each of the 12 police zones nationwide.
Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Saturday June 6, 2015 that the houses would be completed within six months, even as he further disclosed that the charge was given during a one day workshop of all Police Works officers held in Abuja.
Daily Independent notes that the Police Works Department is made up of architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, building engineers, estate managers and quantity surveyors.
Ojukwu said the houses would be completed within six months, while a unit of two bed-room flat would be delivered to officers at the cost of not above N4 million.
Building materials for the Police Housing Scheme would be sourced directly from manufacturers, while Arase insisted that corrupt police officers would not benefit from the project.
